Gama's Chicken Soup

This soup is an exciting experience from the smells that fill the kitchen, to your mouth, and to your stomach.

This chicken soup is one of my favorite dishes my grandma taught me how to make. It's delicious, medicinal, and so easy to make I often have a batch in my fridge for safe keeping. Chicken soup is not only preventive but a cure to sickness. Onions and garlic boost the immune system are known to be anti-inflammatory. Carnosine is a compound heavily found in chicken that has been proven to reduce congestion and stuffiness in the upper body. This chicken soup is, in my opinion, better than any canned soup I've ever tasted. I recommend it to anyone feeling the onset sickness and anyone just needing a damn good soup. It can be paired with dumplings 🥟🥟 I will post my recommended dumpling recipe at a later date. At the bottom of the page is where you can find the amazon link to my pot.

Gama's Chicken Soup

Ingredients:

  • Half a sweet Onion (or red, red onions I've red are better for you but an onion is an onion)

  • 6 cloves of Garlic( or more, because duh, it's garlic more is better)

  • Pinch of Red Pepper Flakes

  • Pinch or two of salt and pepper to start more for later to your liking

  • 2 celery sticks chopped

  • 1-2 Carrots chopped

  • 2 Chicken Breast

  • 1 Box of Chicken Broth(Unless you want to boil your chicken and celery to make your broth)

The Pot:

  1. Add your chopped half onion to a deep enough pot to hold your desired yield

  2. Add in your minced garlic, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper

  3. Let simmer till onion is translucent

  4. Fill pot with chicken broth and the rest with water(usually 2 cups will do) or more for bigger portions

  5. Add your celery, carrots, and chicken breast to the pot

  6. Boil for 20 minutes or till chicken is cooked though

  7. Take chicken out and shred(I use two forks)

  8. Add chicken back in

  9. Taste to see if it needs more salt and pepper

  10. Enjoy warm! I recommend fresh cilantro as garnish
